Richard Elwell
Richard began his career in engineering developing sales and marketing strategies, and bringing new clients on board. He led his teams to increased turnover and profit margins and worked with prestigious clients such as Rolls Royce.
While working to establish his career Richard also took on the challenge of working with young people, becoming involved in Youth Leadership and Training Schemes in his spare time. Taking his interest a step further, he became involved with the Alternative To Violence Charity. He completed their training courses to become a facilitator, working with prisoners to improve their self-awareness.
A transatlantic move took him to Ohio, USA where he established a start up for a UK parent company. He built relationships with major new clients, creating increased opportunities in new markets for the company, and established strategy and procedure to take the company forward. He then moved to Indiana to work for Stellite Coatings as National Sales Manager, revitalising their sales operation with a new business plan, and improved monitoring and reporting procedures, leading to increased productivity, and gaining large contracts with major clients such as GE.
A change of direction and return to the UK took Richard into new media, working with Internet service providers, programmers and designers. He developed and sold e-business strategies and solutions, networked with institutions to improve awareness and open new market areas, and negotiated with Government agencies to acquire funding. Taking advantage of a fast developing industry, Richard was able to progress the company further to deliver a bespoke service to clients, and to create links with important agencies such as CBI, Chambers of Commerce and IoD. This success meant the company gained recognition and respect which set them apart and continued to build the business.
In 2001 Richard became ICT Sector Director for London First – a public body supported by over 300 of London’s major businesses, with a mission to improve and promote London. He devised strategies and events both to improve awareness of the brand, and to benefit members, drawing in investments, and working with companies such as Deutsche Telekom, Marconi, Yahoo and BT.
Following his success with London First, Richard began to work as a Business Development Specialist working with companies to increase their markets and profitability. He undertook staff evaluation and training/retraining, market research and strategy development, engaged key professionals and implemented effective procedures to turn companies around.
Taking this a step further, in 2003 he launched a consultancy specialising in Conflict Management and Communication based training. He also took his interest in psychology further training in NLP, High Performance Coaching and hypnosis.
In 2005 Richard combined his expertise and experience to create Ethical Influence – a global consultancy providing business consulting, coaching, mentoring and support, designed to ensure that its clients and their businesses achieve their maximum potential.
“Perhaps one of the real reasons for the high standard of his work is that standing still is never an option for Richard, he has a passion for continual learning, driven by a love of what he does.”
